Curriculum
Facilitators
The Speak Up course curriculum is designed to be taught in ten class sessions, each lasting 2 hours. Each class focuses on different aspects of leadership, advocacy, person driven planning, and the disability rights movement.
Facilitators will be provided with the lessons and activities necessary to guide class participants through the course with the goal of supporting them to lead their Person Driven Plan.
Participants
Participants will engage in a variety of lessons, activities, and discussions to develop a deeper understanding of themself and what they want in their life. The goal is to equip participants with the language, knowledge and tools to propel their voice in a powerful and effective way. The Person Driven Plan will allow individuals with disabilities to self-advocate and create their future with confidence.
The class has been designed to be accessible for all people with disabilities and will be taught by facilitators who are skilled at creating meaningful participation for all. Support staff are welcome to attend and help.
